WhatsApp messaging app acquired by Facebook
Facebook, Inc. has today announced that they will be acquiring WhatsApp Messenger for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, etc. The new deal is reportedly inked on papers for about a total of 16 Billion United States Dollars.
The cross platform messaging application for smartphones is bought by the Social Media giant, where the company will pay around $4 Billion in solid cash and the remaining $12 Billion in Facebook shares. The firm also let us know that the company will provide an additional $3 Billion in restricted stock units for the WhatsApp Founders and employees, that will vest in about four years from now. All the outstanding shares of WhatsApp capital stock will be cancelled in exchange of the aforementioned, four Billion USD.
The Press release also confirms that the WhatsApp Messenger application and their brand will be maintained and the headquarters will remain in Mountain View, California, United States, where else Jan Koum, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the sold firm will join Facebooks Board of Directors, and move his office to Menlo Park, California, USA.
"WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1 billion people. The services that reach that milestone are all incredibly valuable. Ive known Jan for a long time and Im excited to partner with him and his team to make the world more open and connected," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Founder and CEO.

In the meantime you will need to manually post links to your blog posts or Hubpages articles on your Facebook wall or notes section. Alternately, Hubpages does have a Share feature that makes it easy to share your articles on your Facebook account however it is still a manual process. Many blogging platforms also have easy to add Facebook share features.
Adding an RSS feed to your Facebook Page
As a Hubber, I found that I wanted to share my hubs with my friends on Facebook. But how to do it easily? Im a very busy person and did not want the tedious task of remembering to post a separate link to each HUB I write. Well, I searched high and low through the forums and help text on Facebook and HubPages. Two hours later and I found one tiny little link someone had posted in a forum that answered all my questions.
If you would like each HUB you write to automatically appear with a short description and link on your Wall in Facebook, click on "My Profile" at the top of HubPages. Under your photo you will see a little orange button that says "Subscribe to RSS Feed." Right click on it and select "Copy Shortcut" from the menu. Then go to:

Place your cursor in the block on that Facebook page. Hold the Ctrl button and press the letter "V". This will paste the shortcut you just copied into the block. Click import.
Thats it, your done. Now every time your create and publish a new HUB, your Facebook Wall will automatically be updated.
By the way, this process will work with your blog too. Just copy the URL of your blog feed instead of the URL for your HubPages feeds and insert it on the Facebook page above.
The only drawback is that Facebook will only allow you to import one feed, so if you write a blog and on HubPages, you will need to choose.
Finally, this is not permanent. If at some point in the future you no longer want to import that RSS feed to Facebook, go to your Notes page in Facebook. Toward the right you will see a box titled "Notes Settings". Click "Edit Import Settings" On the next page, you will see a button that says "Stop Importing". Click it and Facebook will stop importing that RSS feed. You can then leave it empty or insert a new feed to import.
Subdomain Migration and your Facebook Feed
August 2011, Hubpages and decided to move all hubs to a user based subdomain. If you currently have your RSS Feed imported by Facebook you should do your migration manually rather than waiting for the automated migration planned by Hubpages. If you take no action, when your subdomain is migrated Facebook will re-import your entire feed. This import will flood your Facebook wall with a separate post for each Hub you have. In addition, it will duplicate posts on your Notes page with links to the old and new URLS.
At minimum, I recommend you manually transfer your Hubs to the subdomain late at night. This will have your posts flood Facebook overnight and hopefully make a minimal impact on your wall and the news feeds of your friends. After the migration, you should probably consider cleaning up your notes page and removing the links to old URLS.
For a more involved solution, you can remove your RSS feed from Facebook by clicking on the link above. Then transfer your to your subdomain in Hubpages. Then come back here and re-add your feed to Facebook. I think this will avoid Facebook from re-importing the entire feed. It should just pick up the feed from that point forward. (If anyone tries this, please comment below with your results.) This solution will leave your old notes with links to the old URLS. Since all URLS will be automatically redirected, this is ok.

Improve Your Facebook Security and Protect Your Account From Hackers
Every single day, as you login to Facebook often via many devices such as Laptop, Desktop Computer, Phones or whatever, it is very important to log out from all the devices. Do you like to allow someone to access your account unnecessarily? I wish your answer should be NO.
Hackers can attack your FB account in so many ways. So that you need to improve your Facebook account security in several ways to block those loop holes. Follow the step by step procedure to secure your account.
Make a Strong Password
- Always create a strong password which makes it harden to guess.
- Use case sensitive and numerical password.
- Avoid using same password for all your online accounts.
- To put a strong password, then go to Account Settings > General > Password.
Verify Your Mobile Number
Confirm your mobile number at Facebook to increase your security. In case, if youve forgotten your password, verifying your mobile number will helps you to retrieve your password via SMS. To do that, go to Account Settings > Mobile > +Add a Phone.
Follow the instructions and You also have the option to Share your number with friends on Facebook and Allow friends to text me from Facebook.
Select your preferences and then click Next to register your mobile number. Confirming your mobile number has many advantages. We are also going to discuss about it.
Turn ON Secure Browsing
Secure browsing (https) is a security feature available at Facebook. When you turned it ON, then no external app can access your profile information without your permission. To protect your account, then go to Account Settings > Security > Secure Browsing.
Check Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) when possible and click on Save Changes.
When youve turned ON the Secure Browsing feature, you will see the address bar in your browser should begin with https:// instead of http://
Enable Login Notifications
This is a very nice feature to notify you if someone or you have accessed your account from a new browser. Assume, if anonymous person logged into your account, then within a minute, you will receive a SMS to your phone from Facebook with a notification message as Your Facebook account was accessed from an unknown browser. It also shows you at what time your account was accessed from a different browser.
So continue to Account Settings > Security > Login Notifications. Check the Text message/Push notification box. Also check the Email box if you wish to receive notifications through Mail.
Step 2 Verification
I hope you have known the step 2 verification feature in Gmail. The similar option is available in Facebook too. First you need to download the official Facebook app if you havent already installed on your phone/tablet. Get the Facebook for Android app from Google Play Store. (As Im using Android phone, Ill use the activation procedure on Android phone as an example). To download the Android apps directly to PC, you could use the APK Downloader. After you have installed it on your device. Then Login to your ID.
Then from PC, go to Account Settings > Security > Code Generator.
There are two options available. You could either click on Enable or Set up.
Then launch your Facebook App, tap on menu > Account > Code Generator
Note the code from the Code Generator. A new random security code will appear for every 30 seconds.
Enter the code on the box as shown above and click on Confirm. (As I have already confirmed it, it only shows the Close and Back option for me). Then carefully follow the instructions given at Facebook.
So whenever you login to your account from any other browser, it will asks you to enter the security code. You need to launch the Facebook app, sign into your account, then tap on Code Generator. Once again get the code and enter it.
After you click Continue, the next page will ask you to Save Browser.
Choose your preference by clicking on the radio button. Then tap on Continue. Thats all. Now you have signed in by using different browser.
Backup Facebook Login Security Codes
So everything seems to be fine but what if your phone does not have Internet connection later on? To avoid this, you just need to back up your Facebook login security codes. Launch Facebook app from your mobile/tab, go to Menu > Account Settings > Security >
Login Approvals Codes. It will show you 10 codes. Note down all the codes and keep them safe. Use it whenever a login approval code is required. Please remember that only the newest set of codes will work. If the codes doesnt work, click on get new codes to collect the another set of 10 new codes.
Avoid Phishing Emails and Links
Some spammers or hackers creates web pages which exactly look like Facebook login page to fool you. Dont ever provide your ID and password as you might get into trouble. So to avoid getting phished, always type www.facebook.com on your browsers address bar and then log in.
Log Me Out of Facebook
Finally dont forget to Log out, as its the most important part you must do to safeguard your Facebook account.
Private Browsing
Private browsing is one of the many options to protect your account. So that you could browse Facebook anonymously. The main advantage of Private or Ghost mode browsing is that your activity will not be logged into the browser history.

- Get a copy of what you have shared on Facebook.
- If the file which you are going to download is big, then it will show as Start My Archive. Click on that button.
- Facebook will begin compiling your archive and you will be informed that youll be sent an email when its ready to download. Press OK to this notification.
- Usually it takes 1-2 hours.
- When your email arrives at your mail inbox, click the link to access the download.
- Then click on Download Archive button.
- You will be asked to enter your Facebook password. Then enter your password and submit it.
- When the download action begins, you will need to wait for a while to get the file.
- The archive file is in zip format. So, you need to extract it to open the file.
- To do so, download the Zip extractor from here and know how to extract a zip file.
- Install it and then extract the archive file which you have just downloaded it from Facebook.
- After the extraction process completed, you will get 3 folders and 1 .htm file.
- Open the html folder.
- Double click on friends (its a .htm file)
- Then your default web browser will open the friends.htm page.
